Records Requests

The City of Menomonie Police Department hereby established the following procedures as they apply to Public Records in its custody:

 Accident Reports are available by mail, or in person at no charge. If mailed, the amount for postage would be charged to the recipient of the record. The Department of Transportation has accident reports available online at www.dot.state.wi.us our department has also made reports available at www.crashdocs.org and www.crashlogic.com 

Incident Reports are reports regarding calls other than accidents, and must be reviewed prior to release. This review process may include the redaction of confidential information and the requester will be notified of any redactions or denials. The request for records may be written or oral, and can be made via phone, email, mail, fax, or in person at the police department.

Squad Video or Body Camera Footage must be reviewed prior to release. The review process may include the redaction of audio or visual confidential information. The requestor will be notified of any redactions or denials. The request for records may be written or oral, and can be made via phone, email, mail, fax, or in person at the police department.

To Aid in the Location of the record request we ask that the request include as much information as possible, including:

a) Incident Date

b) Location

c) Names of persons involved

Copies of Reports $0.01/B&W, $0.06/Color

Postage Actual Cost

CDs/DVDs $0.13

Faxed/ Emailed No Charge

For larger requests, the police department may charge actual time to process the request. In these instances, the requester will be notified prior to starting the project and a deposit may be required. Prepayment may be required if the total amount of the request exceeds $5.00
